2. Data We Collect

Website Usage

When you visit our website, your browser automatically transmits certain information to our servers (server log files), including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and access time. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure website operation).

App Usage

When you register and use the TAZ app, we collect:

  • Email address (for identification and notifications)
  • Name (optional, for personalization)
  • Emergency contacts (name and contact details)
  • Alarm times (your configured alert schedules)
  • Push token / device UUID (for push notifications via Firebase)
  • Subscription status
  • Last check-in timestamp

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract).

2a. Data of Emergency Contacts (Art. 14 GDPR)

Within the app, we store data of persons registered by the user as emergency contacts. These data are not collected directly from the persons concerned, but are provided by the user.

Data stored

  • Name of the emergency contact
  • Email address
  • Phone number (for SMS)

Purpose

These data are used exclusively to notify the registered contacts in the event of an alarm.

Legal basis

Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest: user safety and core service functionality).

Informing Emergency Contacts

Information of emergency contacts pursuant to Art. 14 GDPR is provided through this Privacy Policy. Emergency contacts may exercise their rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection under Art. 15–21 GDPR) directly at support@tieralleinezuhause.de.

In addition, the user is contractually obliged (see Terms § 4.2) to inform each emergency contact in advance that their data are stored in the context of this service and may be used for contact in the event of an alarm.

Data retention

Emergency contact data are deleted as soon as the user removes the contact or deletes their account.

Rights of emergency contacts

Affected emergency contacts may exercise their rights (access, rectification, erasure under Art. 15–17 GDPR) by contacting support@tieralleinezuhause.de.

3. Purpose of Data Processing

  • Providing the alarm and monitoring functionality (core service)
  • Sending notifications to you and your emergency contacts
  • Account creation and management
  • Payment processing and subscription management
  • Responding to support requests
  • Improving our services (anonymized)

4. Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google LLC)

We use the following Firebase services provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA:

  • Firebase Authentication: User account management
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Push notification delivery

We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or any other Google tracking or analytics services.

A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with Google LLC. Since Google LLC is based in the USA, data transfers are made on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and additionally on the basis of Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR.

Brevo (Sendinblue SAS)

We use Brevo for transactional emails (notifications, login links, alerts). Sendinblue SAS, 55 rue d'Amsterdam, 75008 Paris, France. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with Brevo. Email notifications can be sent on a daily basis; there is no limit on the number of email notifications.

Spryng (SMS)

We use Spryng for SMS notifications. Spryng B.V., Herengracht 420, 1017 BZ Amsterdam, Netherlands. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with Spryng. SMS notifications are limited to a maximum of 5 SMS per calendar month.

Hetzner Online GmbH (Network Infrastructure / Processor)

We use Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, for network infrastructure, in particular a static IPv4 address. Personal data is transmitted through this infrastructure via an encrypted connection to our own servers, where it is stored exclusively. All user data remains in Germany.

A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with Hetzner.

Apple Inc. / Google LLC (Payment Processing)

Subscriptions are purchased exclusively through the Apple App Store (Apple Inc., One Apple Park Way, Cupertino, CA 95014, USA) or the Google Play Store (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Apple and Google process your payment data under their own privacy policies. TierAlleineZuhause does not receive full payment details — only a confirmation of your subscription status.

5. Google reCAPTCHA

We use Google reCAPTCHA v3 on our contact form to distinguish human from automated input. Google may process your IP address, browser type, operating system and visit data. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in protecting our website from abuse). See Google Privacy Policy.

5a. Cookies and Session Data

Our website uses only technically necessary cookies — no tracking, marketing or analytics cookies:

  • Session cookie: A temporary cookie to maintain your login session. Deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Language preference cookie: Stores your chosen language (German/English) for your next visit.

As these are strictly necessary cookies, no consent is required under § 25(2) TDDDG (formerly TTDSG, renamed 14 May 2024). We do not use any analytics tools such as Google Analytics.

5b. Hosting

User data is stored exclusively on our own servers located in Germany. Network connectivity is provided via Hetzner Online GmbH (see section 4). All data remains within Germany.

The processing of personal data in the course of server operation is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of our services).

Right to Object (Art. 21 GDPR)

You have the right at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to object to the processing of personal data concerning you which is carried out on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The provider will then no longer process the data unless compelling legitimate grounds for processing override your interests, rights and freedoms.

To exercise your right to object, an informal email to support@tieralleinezuhause.de is sufficient.

Automated Decision-Making

No automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR, including profiling, takes place.

Minors

The service is directed exclusively at persons aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process personal data of minors. If we become aware that data of a minor has been collected, we will delete it immediately.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data (Art. 15)
  • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16)
  • Erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten") (Art. 17)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18)
  • Data portability (Art. 20)
  • Object to processing (Art. 21)
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77)

We will respond to requests within 30 days (Art. 12(3) GDPR). In complex cases this may be extended by a further 60 days; you will be informed within the first 30 days.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data: Until deletion requested by user
  • Push token / device UUID: Until device is deregistered or account deleted
  • Payment records / invoices: 6 years (§ 257 HGB) or 10 years (§ 147 AO) depending on document type
  • Server log files: 7 days, then automatically deleted
  • Contact form messages: 6 months after end of communication

8. Data Security

We secure our website and systems through technical and organizational measures against loss, destruction, access, modification or distribution of your data by unauthorized parties. All data transmission between your browser and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in legal requirements or our services. For substantial changes that affect users' rights, we will notify registered users by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Minor or editorial changes apply from the date of publication.

TierAlleineZuhause sends you a daily check-in. If you don't respond, your emergency contacts are automatically alerted — so your pet is never forgotten.
